Penthouse Commercial Office Design

The Challenge:

Collectius is a debt collector’s company that operates a call center right below our site. We were engaged to work on their penthouse unit for the directors’ private workspace; a “man cave” so to speak. How do we design a functional office and a cozy industrial loft that functions as an office?

The Ground Up Solution:

As this is not a primary workspace, we focused on creating a warm ambient throughout with mood and decorative lighting. We also incorporated warm and earthy materials such as red bricks, concrete flooring, and timber to achieve the industrial warehouse effect. Steel elements were introduced to bring in a masculine touch. The furniture work stations were also custom-designed to blend with their surrounding while still being practical.

Commercial Office Space Design in KL

The Challenge:

The client rents this office space to tenants of any business background. How do we design for a variety of end-users?

The Ground Up Solution:

Our starting point was using offices from the ’90s as a reference. Back then offices were designed to be functional and do not necessarily convey the company’s brand. We approached the design by looking at the fundamental necessities end users will appreciate such as ample daylight, sleek and see-through partitions to create an illusion of an open office while keeping the overall tone neutral and monochromatic. As a result, we have an office space that can adapt to any brand.

GrowthOps Open Plan Minimalist Office Design

The challenge:

With a space of 20,000 sqft, how do we design an open office that still allows for cozy and quiet workspaces, all while encouraging productivity?

The Ground Up solution:

The client emphasized university campus environments as a starting point for our layout inspiration. We then focused our spatial planning on breakout & collaborative spaces and strategically placed them across the workspace so that no one is ever too far away from a communal area, or feel isolated from each other – giving them an underlying sense of belonging. These spaces such as a think pod, discussion booths, informal discussion nooks, and a tiered seating town hall were design opportunities that also promote interaction across teams while creating a relaxed work setting.

The office design was focused on minimalistic black & white contrasts, a theme that stems from the GrowthOps brand; paired together with neutral tones that wood and concrete provided. The exposed industrial concrete ceiling becomes a feature that runs across the entire space giving a sense of audaciousness and boldness that represents the firm’s appeal. To offset a possible austere environment, we introduced playful and colorful furniture that resemble ones on campuses and added graphic motifs on meeting room doors as a creative method of wayfinding too.

Further initiatives we made to the place included providing an unobstructed panoramic view of the surrounding skyline by keeping workstations and hot desks closer to windows; ensuring the users are offered natural sunlight whenever possible.

Fun & Relaxed Co-Workspace Office Design in KL

The challenge:

What can we do for a co-working space to help it stand out from the many co-working spaces? Oh, and did we mention there was existing furniture we had to integrate into the design?

The Ground Up solution:

First up, we helped Iconik establish a brand identity. That involves coming up with its name, branding and logo design, which then served as the inspiration needed to build up their co-working space. The brief was for Iconik to carry a more fun + relaxed vibe that catered towards start-ups and students looking for a functional space to study and also serve as an event space occasionally. And to that end, we needed the space to look inspiring, vibrant and friendly all while seeming affordable to rent.

Our solution was to play up the brand’s black and yellow colors throughout the space via creative paintwork on the walls and floor to build a lively and energetic environment. We created different work zones from private suites to private and Flexi desks to maximize every square inch without compromising on the breakout and communal areas.

Private call booths, a nursing room, and a nap station were also carved out. The feature theatre-style seating at the event space with Iconik’s logo behind seamlessly connects the two floors. The client is an avid collector of vintage furniture, and so we carefully selected some pieces to feature in the project as quirky elements.
